Excavated pond basin with heavy equipment and spoil piles under a blue sky.

CUSTOM POND CONSTRUCTION

What We Design & Build

  • Hydrologic & site design: pond siting, watershed analysis, inlet/outlet sizing, emergency overflow and spillway design, and erosion control.

  • Excavation & earthwork: accurate excavation volumes, spoil management, embankment construction, and finish grading.

  • Compaction & stability: engineered compaction of benches and embankments, testing and inspection recommendations, and embankment shaping to resist sloughing and settlement.

  • Water control structures: robust outlets, spillways, and armored overflow treatments designed to protect downstream resources.

  • Aquatic and shoreline habitat: littoral benches, native plantings, log and rock structures for habitat, and vegetated buffers to improve water quality and wildlife value.

  • Finish & restoration: topsoil management, seeding or planting, revegetation strategies, and final cleanup so the pond blends naturally into the landscape.

Our process

  1. Site assessment & feasibility: We begin with a free, in-person site visit (required) to evaluate soils, slope, watershed, access, and your objectives. This step determines feasibility, best siting, and an honest scope of work.

  2. Design & permitting: We prepare a clear plan that includes excavation volumes, outlet and spillway design, erosion control, and permit needs. We assist with or manage permitting and coordinate with local agencies when needed.

  3. Construction: Using experienced operators and proven techniques, we perform excavation, spoil placement, embankment shaping, compaction, and erosion control installation. We monitor critical stages to ensure design intent is met.

  4. Finish & habitat work: We shape banks and benches, place native plantings and habitat structures, install stabilization measures, and complete finish grading and seeding.

  5. Follow-up & maintenance: We offer follow-up monitoring and maintenance plans — from vegetation management to spillway inspections — so your pond continues to function and improve over time.

Why our approach works

Ponds are long-term investments. Getting soils, compaction, outlets, and spoil management right prevents failures, reduces costly repairs, and improves ecological function. We design with both engineering and ecology in mind — ensuring proper drainage, minimizing downstream impacts, and creating productive aquatic habitat that supports fish and wildlife.

Environmental stewardship & technical standards

We plan work to minimize disturbance, protect water quality, and follow conservation best practices. Where helpful, we align projects with NRCS standards and local permitting requirements, install erosion and sediment controls during construction, and retain vegetated buffers to protect streams and wetlands. Our aim is to build ponds that are both useful and responsible.

Capabilities & experience

As an owner-operated company guided by stewardship and practical knowledge, we deliver precise site assessments, thoughtful design, and careful execution. Our experience in hydrology, soils, and habitat planning informs each project so ponds are built to perform and add lasting value to your property.

Getting started

Pond projects vary widely in scope. A free, in-person estimate is required so we can evaluate the site and provide an accurate proposal. Most projects begin around $2,000. We’ll produce a written plan, timeline, and clear cost estimate so you know exactly what to expect.
